The Peoples Republic of China is not so friendly for people especially for news personnel. Government used propaganda department to suppress the news coverage & keep a watch even on net.
Foreign media who enjoyed the free coverage during Olympics still found under censorship as the news related to milk contamination & other serious violation were strongly censored.
China is the world's biggest prison of journalists, where government fears from the exposure of issues under the rule of communists which may ignite a possible revolution just like the one in this year which was crushed before starting famed as jasmine revolution when authorities fearing a possible threat to the centre arrests journalists throughout the country. During the Xinjiang & Tibetan unrest government forces maltreated when more than 100 correspondents most of them still serving their long jail terms. Government also focuses on human rights activists & other voices who try to raise their voices against it which continuously arrests these people even today.
Press has always been deprived of free coverage & broadcasting rights independently without any censor. People here are being aware by the bloggers & other netizens who uses the still freely accessible online platform. Imprisoned journalists are also used as forced labor as well.
Travel Advisory for Journalists
Foreign Journalists are occasionally welcomed. Access for complete coverage is highly controlled. It is advised to take safety measures while covering protests, riots & other unrests in the country. Take prior permissions from the authority which hardly gets & in case of emergency immediately inform your respective foreign mission. Follow extra safety & privacy level during your travel if covering a sensitive issue.
